EXPERIENCE

SEPT 2017 – MAR 2020

DELIVERING PRESENTATIONS

  • Throughout my years in University, I have been able to develop my presentation skills and my confidence in front of an audience through delivering and presenting my work to a range of age ranges.

  • They were also able to help my communication skills through helping me develop ways in which to talk and engage different groups of people.

FEB 2020 – MAR 2020

SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

  • From the beginning of February until mid-March, I experienced two days a week in a primary school, one day with years one/two and one day with years five/six (my experience was unfortunately cut short due to Covid-19).

  • By doing this, it helped me better understand the structure of a primary school and help me see what kind of age range I would like to teach in the future.

  • I learnt a lot with being in two classes that were opposite ends of the primary education spectrum and it helped me consolidate my hopes of being a teacher.

  • I developed my communication skills so I was able to engage children of all ages by using relatable topics and delivering with confidence.

SEPT 2019

EXPERIENCE IN A NURSERY

  • I spent a few days in a nursery with 3-4-year olds where I was asked to work with a child with a language barrier and improve their engagement.

  • By the end of working with the pupil, we were communicating a lot better than when we started.

  • We took activities slower than other children and I used objects to explain tasks better.

  • As a result, I witnessed an increase in confidence and engagement from this pupil. They had a greater understanding of what was being asked from them, and persevered with the tasks they have been given.

JULY 2017

MURAL PAINTING

  • I was one of two pupils selected to paint a mural on the entrance wall to a primary school with a select group of Key Stage 2 pupils.

  • For the mural, we were given the message in which the school wanted the mural to portray and from there, we were left to create a piece of art.

  • This involved planning, time-management skills, logical thinking and creativity skills that I had developed through my education.

SEPT 2015 – JUN 2017

YEAR 7 ART CLASSES

  • In my sixth form I assisted an art class of 11-year-olds on a weekly basis where I would engage with children who needed extra support with their work, and help them produce work that they could be proud of.

  • Within the class, I supported a child with a physical disability that meant their eyesight was limited.

  • I made sure all of their desk was neat and tidy so that all of the materials in front of them wouldn’t be confusing. I also used contrasting coloured pencils so there was a clear differentiation in colour.

SEPT 2015 – JUN 2017

TUTOR

  • In sixth form, I was chosen to tutor a Year 7 student. We met weekly to discuss grades, deadlines and worries.

  • My role as a tutor was to keep the student on track, help with any concerns and track progress.

  • From this, I was able to use my organisation and communication skills to set clear goals for the student so that they could take everything a small step at a time but still progress in their studies.
